CALNET
to provide IT Consulting services to IADB
June
12, 2000
The
Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), the oldest and largest
regional multi-lateral development institution, whose mission
is to help accelerate economic and social development in Latin
America and the Caribbean, has discovered the power of CALNET's
location, acquisition and deployment abilities in the area of
IT consulting services.
IADB
was ambivalent when first approached by CALNET requesting a
business relationship. IADB's attitude was "We'll call you when
we need you."
"It's
your typical business scenario when you have customers like
IADB." states Glenn Hughes, VP of Sales & Marketing "They don't
call you for the easy ones, they're already giving the "easy
money" to other suppliers so there is no reason to rock the
boat. However, when you're the new kid on the block, and you
gotta prove yourself, you're only passed the tough ones. Heck,
if they were all easy, there would be no need for CALNET, there
would be no business left for us." In this case this requisition
was too tough for the competition, and that's the point where
it becomes just right for the CALNET recruiters. "Think about
it," says Hughes, using a basketball analogy, "when there's
two seconds left in the game and you're down by one point, you
feed the ball to your best shooter, and that's exactly what
IADB did. No one else could deliver, and IADB was nearing the
end of their third delayed delivery date. Nearing the end of
the game (IADB's deliverable dead-line) they came to CALNET.
We'd either hit, or we'd drop the ball. As usual, we hit."
Kaleem Shah,
President of CALNET's Telecom Practice Group, tagged on stating,
"We'll take all the hard business, because after we prove we
can handle the tough requirements our clients come back to us
with more day-to-day business. Why? Because we earned their
respect and they begin to appreciate quality work. I guess you
can say we spoil them."
