CALNET joins the ranks of NMSDC certified companies

Vienna, Virginia, November 15, 2001 - CALNET, Inc. a leading provider of Information Technology and Telecommunications Solutions, announced today that they been certified by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) headquartered in New York City.

The National Minority Supplier Development Council, one of the country's leading business membership organizations, provides a direct link between Corporate America and certified small businesses. Since 1972, NMSDC has provided increased procurement and business opportunities for qualified minority businesses of all sizes. In 1974, the Office of Minority Business Enterprise entered into a contract with NMSDC "to pursue the single objective of encouraging major corporations to adopt and implement programs to increase their purchases of goods and services from qualified minority businesses." This resulted in the establishment of a network of Regional Minority Supplier Development Councils (RMSDCs) throughout the country.
The amount of purchases by NMSDC corporate members from minority businesses has grown from an estimated $86 million in 1972 to $47.8 billion in 1999.
