Test Engineers SS7 Software Test Engineer Job Description The Software Test Engineer (STE) will provide input for all phases of planning and scheduling for assigned project(s). The STE will contribute to system requirement definition/analysis and participate in the preparation of all test products (e.g., test plans, cases, reports). The STE will also be responsible for executing test cases and raising subsequent issues to the appropriate personnel. The STE will perform all tasks with a nominal amount of supervision. Job Requirements Technical: Minimum 5 years testing SS7 applications at the protocol level (SCCP, TCAP) . Clear understanding of ASN (Abstract syntax notation). Experience Testing:IS-41, IS-771 (Win Phase I),IS-848 (Win Phase II), CAMEL. Minimum 2 years recent hands on experience with Catapult MGTS. Network technologies - understanding and trouble shooting skills of TCP/IP networks (e.g., routing tables, host/network configuration issues). At least 3 years writing UNIX shell scripts. Minimum5 years software testing experience in a client server environment – including sw application installation/configuration. Ability to perform requirement analysis and create test products (test plans, scripts, reports). At least 3 years programming experience.(e.g.,Perl, Java, C++). At least 5 years RDBMS & SQL experience – Oracle preferred. Experience with test tools such as: test director, defect tracking tools. Planning / Team Work / Communication Thorough understanding of software development lifecycle and test processes. Ability to review project technical documents and provide input as required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team following established guidelines. Ability to lead a project– this may include tasking personnel. Ability to prepare tasks estimates, test schedules and to provide input to project (s) master schedule. Excellent problem analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution skills.
