Calnet provides a comprehensive benefits package to its employees and their families. A brief summary of these benefits appears below.

Medical Coverage For You And Your Family

Coverage begins on the first day of employment and is provided by Optimum Choice. The employee is eligible for HMO coverage. Eligible dependents are limited to the following:

  1. Spouse (former spouses cannot be covered under the plan).
  2. Unmarried children age 19 or younger, unless a student taking 20 or more credit hours, then up to age 23.
  3. Stepchildren, foster children, and legally adopted children if they depend upon your support.

Employee contribution towards medical coverage, which is automatically deducted from his/her paycheck each pay period depending upon his/her status, is as follows:

  1. Single: $38.00 per pay period.
  2. Couple:$69.00 per pay period.
  3. Family: $95.00 per pay period.

If the status of your dependents enrolled in the plan changes (e.g. through birth, death, divorce, etc.) you must notify us within 30 days of the status change so that we can make amendments to your insurance cards.

Any detailed questions relating to health coverage should be directed to the Optimum Choice Member Services (1-800-331-2102). Please reference your Optimum Choice Card number when directing your questions to this line.

If employee or any dependent leaves the metropolitan area and an emergency situation occurs, please call Optimum Choice Healthcare at your earliest convenience to inform them about the situation. This is required by Optimum Choice Healthcare in order to cover all medical charges in out-of-plan areas. Optical Coverage

In addition, employees may see a participating eye care facility and receive discounts for eye refraction exams, eye products including but not limited to contact lenses, lenses and frames. There is no referral necessary from your primary care physician. Calnet provides Optical Coverage through Optimum Choice. For information regarding participating providers call: 1 (800) 793-8616.

Dental Coverage

Employees also have the option of enrolling in our stand-alone dental plan through Delta Dental.  It covers between 80-100% of usual and customary fees for most dental procedures. Please see the "Delta Dental" brochure located in the benefits package for more details.

  1. Single:                       $10.00 per pay period.

  2. Employee and Spouse:  $20.00 per pay period.


  3. Employee and Children: $20.00 per pay period.

  4. Employee and Family:   $30.00 per pay period.

The Calnet Retirement Plan-401(k)

Through payroll deduction, employees can contribute between 1-90% of their gross annual income on a tax-deferred basis into the Calnet Retirement Plan (subject to the IRS mandated maximum contribution limit.) The Calnet Retirement Plan is an IRS-approved 401K Plan utilizing Fidelity Investments. Employees are eligible to participate upon attainment of age 21 and three (3) months of employment with Calnet.

Holidays

Calnet observes seven (9) federal holidays and the day after Thanksgiving for a total of (10) holidays annually. The observed holidays are: 

  • Martin Luther King Day

  • President’s Day

  • Memorial Day

  • Independence Day

  • Labor Day

  • Veteran’s Day

  • Thanksgiving Day

  • The Friday after Thanksgiving

  • Christmas Day

Personal Leave

Employees can earn up to fifteen (15) days of paid personal leave every calendar year. Personal leave is earned at the rate of 10 hours per month. Employees on the payroll as of the 15th of the month earn person leave for that month. Beginning with the sixth year of service, employees are entitled to 20 days of personal leave per year. Beginning with the tenth year of service, employees are granted one (1) additional day per year up to a maximum of 25 days per year.

The personal leave can be used for vacation, personal and medical purposes.

Employees need to report extended personal leave (more than two (2) days) to Calnet two weeks before the planned leave. Personal leave taken for medical purposes should be reported the same day by 9 a.m., unless an emergency situation occurs.

Personal leave needs to be used up within the calendar year (calendar year = Jan 1 – Dec 31). If project deadlines prevent employees from using their personal leave within the calendar year, employees can carry over the personal leave with prior approval to the following year. Personal leave needs to be used up by March 31st of the following year. If the personal leave is not used by March 31st, it will be paid out within the month of April.

Life Insurance

Calnet provides Group Term Life (GTL) insurance equal to the annual base salary of the employee. Employee is eligible for the GTL after 30 days of employment.

As per IRS regulation, the premium paid for coverage in excess of $50,000 (if any) is subject to withholding for Social Security and Medicare. The taxable part of the coverage will be reflected on the last paycheck of each calendar year.

Short Term/Long Term Disability Insurance

The Short-Term Disability benefit is payable for disabilities resulting from non-occupational accidents or illnesses. Payment commences on the 8th day following the accident or 15th day following the illness and pays 60% of the weekly salary - up to $750 - for a maximum period of 26 weeks. This will begin after 30 days of employment.

The Long-Term Disability benefit is payable for disabilities resulting from non-occupational accidents or illnesses. Payment commences after a period of 180 days with a maximum monthly benefit of 60% of salary not to exceed $5,000 per month. This will begin after 30 days of employment.

Tuition Reimbursement Program

Employees become eligible for the tuition reimbursement program after an employment period of six months. Course descriptions must (1) be pre-authorized by Calnet as having direct relevance to current job content and (2) be part of an accredited degree program. Reimbursement is available for a maximum of 4 courses per year and will be paid on the following basis:

Grade of A- 100% reimbursement
Grade of B- 75% reimbursement
Grade of C- 0% reimbursement

The employee is responsible for repaying the full amount of all refunds if the employee leaves CALNET, Inc. within 12 months of completing any reimbursed course.

Direct Deposit

Your pay checks can be deposited into your savings or checking account, automatically each payday.
